I-Pad session with David Chandler
The iPad is not a replacement for traditional media but a powerful and extremely useful addition to the artist’s kit box that challenges us to think about picture-making in an entirely different way. Colour, texture, gesture and form can all be expressed with the swipe of a stylus (or a finger), but to the beginner, the manifold creative opportunities the technology provides may be bewildering rather than liberating.
While it is a relatively easy matter to use the iPad as an ersatz, battery-driven paintbox, this course introduces you to a variety of procedures and techniques that will help you get even more out of your art, both digital and analog and encourage you to navigate your way around your touch-screen with confidence.
The day will begin with a brief, illustrated talk on my own iPad art, followed by practical exercises in still-life, landscape and abstraction, plus some advice on how we may use the iPad to further our work with traditional media.
Participants will need an iPad with the Procreate app pre-loaded and an Apple Pencil or similar stylus… plus an item of fruit!
