In addition to pencils and a putty rubber, participants will need to bring a black fine-liner (0.005 or 0.1) which is water-resistant (ideally a Pigma Micron archival pen), watercolour paper (I use Daler/Rowney Aquafine cold pressed 300gm) and watercolours. Sydling St Nicholas
Sydling St. Nicholas is a stunningly picturesque village, winding along the little Sydling Water with tiny connecting bridges to the ancient thatched cottages which line the banks. In the summer the walls are covered with roses and clematis and birdsong drifts from the gardens. We visited here in 2022 and it was a very popular venue.
The church of St. Nicholas was rebuilt in the 18th century and has a fireplace inside the porch where villagers once sat to hold parish meetings. The font is over 1000 years old and thought to have been carved from an ancient Roman capital. The clock is also one of the oldest in England and dates from 1593, it is faceless but strikes the hours.
